Mobilization in Ukraine: Needs Assessment and Relevance

01 сен, 09:30

Ukraine continues to maintain its military forces at a high level of readiness, but there is no need to mobilize 300,000 citizens at once. This information was provided by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov in an interview with NV.

Danilov emphasized that the military adheres to the approved mobilization plans, which are reviewed every two months. He noted that although there are some difficulties, this process is not critically necessary at the moment.

The NSDC spokesman also noted that cases of bribery among military officials did not affect the number of people mobilized.

An important detail is that martial law and mobilization in Ukraine were declared in February 2022 and continue to be in effect until November 15, 2023.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that mobilization should be intensified, but no further details were provided. National Security and Defense Council Secretary Danilov indicated that additional mobilization is possible, but it will take place within the framework of the existing norms that have been in place since February 2022.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov also emphasized that the current mobilization plan has not yet been fully implemented, so there is no need to announce a new mobilization to increase the number of troops. At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine's losses are much less than those of the Russian side, but there are still dead and wounded, so replenishment of the military remains an urgent task.
