The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the British non-governmental organization The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the area of demining Ukrainian energy facilities and their surrounding areas.

The agreement, signed by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov and MAG Branch Director John Cunliffe, provides for joint efforts to safely restore Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure by clearing energy facilities and adjacent territories of explosive ordnance.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko noted that the demining of energy facilities is at the forefront, as the threat of mine contamination hinders the restoration of energy supply, especially in the temporarily occupied territories.

It is important to note that Ukrainian energy companies are ready to train their specialists and purchase the necessary equipment to simplify the demining process. The Ministry of Energy expressed its gratitude to MAG for its willingness to provide important assistance in this matter.

The signed memorandum also provides for cooperation in conducting information campaigns on mine risk, as well as technical support and consultations on demining.

This initiative is aimed at creating a safe environment for the socio-economic development of regions affected by military events. Ukraine attaches great importance to demining, which is becoming an important stage in the country's recovery and energy security.
