As part of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 15, Poland's ruling party will call for a referendum in which citizens will decide on four issues, including one related to fortifications on the border with Belarus, a state that is a vassal of aggressive Russia. The initiative was announced in an election video by the Law and Justice party's Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
The questions to be answered are formulated in such a way that the "correct" options are "obvious" to citizens.
One of the questions concerns relations with Belarus and may read as follows: "Do you support the dismantling of the fence on the border of the Republic of Poland with the Republic of Belarus?"
Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak emphasized: "Poland may be Putin's next target, and our security is under real threat. That is why we are consistently strengthening the Polish Army and building a barrier on the border with Belarus and Russia."
The final decision on the issues to be included in the referendum, as well as on the possibility of holding it, has not yet been made. These issues will be discussed in the lower house of the Sejm on August 16-17.
