Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has announced a state of emergency in the country's energy sector. The reason for this decision was the urgent need for emergency measures to address the energy crisis caused by climate change and the decrease in water in the Naryn River. The state of emergency was declared for the period from August 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026.

The decree stipulates that the Ministry of Energy will be entitled to identify and allocate land plots for the use of renewable energy sources. The Minister of Energy will have the exclusive right to carry out general coordination of activities on land and water resources, subsoil use and the implementation of energy projects in the country.

In order to ensure the use of renewable energy sources, an inventory of land plots suitable for the development of such sources will be conducted. Starting from September 1, 2023, the termination of the rights to use land plots that were intended for the construction of energy facilities but were not used will be initiated.

The President also personally took responsibility for the implementation of this decree, which demonstrates the high level of importance and relevance of the decision for the country.

Climate challenges and lack of water resources have become a serious challenge for the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan. The government has taken a step towards solving this problem by declaring a state of emergency in the energy sector and focusing on the use of renewable energy sources. Such steps are important to ensure the country's sustainable development and energy security.
