The United Nations has expressed serious concern about the dangers posed by climate change and said that the situation is "out of control." Scientists predict that the hottest July in the history of the Earth will be the hottest in hell as a result of global warming. One of the most influential factors in this process, scientists called the weather in the Antarctic, The Guardian reports, citing the UN.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that "climate change is out of control." An official analysis of the data showed that the average global temperature for the seven days to mid-July was the highest in the history of observations.
"If we continue to postpone the key measures that are needed, I think we are heading for a catastrophic situation, as the last two temperature records show," Guterres said, referring to the latest rise in global temperatures that occurred on Monday and Tuesday.
For the seven-day period ending Wednesday, the average daily temperature was 0.04°C higher than any week in the last 44 years of record, according to the University of Maine Climate Reanalyzer. This confirms that the Earth's average temperature remains at an unusually high 17.18°C.
Scientists believe that these data indicate that climate change is entering unknown territory, and the increase in temperature as a result of global warming, combined with the El Niño phenomenon, could lead to new temperature records. The UN has confirmed the resumption of El Niño, a periodic weather phenomenon. The last strong El Niño was observed in 2016, which remains the hottest year on record.
