President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made important changes to the command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, dismissing Viktor Khorenko and appointing Serhiy Lupanchuk to take his place. This decisive action is intended to improve and optimize the activities of special military units.

According to Decree No. 727/2023, Viktor Khorenko was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Khorenko, a major general and veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, had held this position since July 25, 2022.

It was with Khorenko at the helm of the Special Operations Forces command that important measures and reforms in this military branch were implemented. He had a significant impact on the organization and coordination of operations in special territories.

At the moment, there is no information about Colonel Serhiy Lupanchuk and his experience in the Armed Forces of Ukraine available in open sources. However, his appointment shows great faith in his capabilities and professionalism as the new head of the Special Operations Forces.

By appointing a new commander, Zelenskyy gives Lupanchuk the opportunity to develop and improve special operations in Ukraine to ensure effective protection of the nation in the context of heightened security and hybrid warfare.

Changes in the command of the Special Operations Forces demonstrate the importance and serious approach to national security and defense in Ukraine. We hope that the new head will prove to be an effective leader and will contribute to the efficiency of these important military units.
