On August 16, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully drove the occupants out of Urozhayne in the Donetsk sector during active counter-offensive operations and completely liberated the village. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar.

According to her, "Urozhayne is liberated. Our defenders are trying to consolidate their positions on the frontline. Offensive activity continues," she emphasized via her Telegram channel.

The Ministry of Defense has not yet provided additional details on the specifics of the operation and future strategies of the military.

It is worth noting that the most difficult battles are taking place in the Donetsk sector, where enemy forces are trying to reinforce with reserves to deter the Ukrainian offensive. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian military manages to continue advancing.

Urozhayne became the focus of attention on August 14, when Hanna Malyar said that the military was working to liberate the town. A number of Russian media outlets and influential bloggers used Ukraine's success in Urozhayne to reflect the low morale of Russian troops and the shortcomings in their command on the southern front.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized that the Ukrainian military is also actively counterattacking on the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions.

Fierce battles are also ongoing in other areas. The enemy forces are trying to prevent the advance of the Ukrainian military and regain lost positions west of Klishchiyivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka.

As a result, since the beginning of the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian military have managed to liberate more than 241 square kilometers of territory from occupation.
